Sentry Group – Privacy Policy

Who we are

Sentry Group Motivating Success (SG MS) is a privately-owned corporation based in Waterloo, ON founded in 2004. It currently encompasses six divisions:

Sentry Group Individual Corporate Consulting (SG ICC)

Sentry Group Wealth Partners (SG WP)

Sentry Group Capital Advisory (SG CA)

Sentry Group Mortgage Capital (SG MC)

Sentry Group Business Services (SG BS)

Sentry Group Tax & Accounting (SG TA)

These divisions have a symbiotic relationship that allows us to service our clients in all areas of their financial requirements.

Our associates will be licensed by their appropriate governing regulatory body in one or more of these areas and may also from time to time refer business to duly licensed advisors in the other areas.

Each division will have suppliers they represent in their category. Currently the most frequently represented are:

Sentry Group Individual Corporate Consulting is our fee based consulting service. We work with individuals, families, business owners, corporations and charitable organizations to ensure that proper financial structure, taxation and legacy concerns have appropriate solutions in place.

The fees charged will depend on the type of financial consultation required and are agreed upon before work is commenced.

Sentry Group Wealth Partners is our risk management division. As independent insurance brokers licensed in Ontario, SG WP agents and brokers are bound by the laws governing life insurance agents in Ontario and the Code of Ethics of their professional association.  Since November 2004, Ontario has required life insurance agents and brokers to provide clients with written disclosure of any actual or potential conflicts of interest which may arise in the sale of insurance.  Such disclosure allows clients to understand the circumstances which may lead to a potential conflict, and make an informed decision on whether to proceed with the recommendation or transaction.

Should you require further information about the companies we represent, please contact us directly

If you have a complaint, we will assist you personally or direct you to the appropriate resource.

The MGA we do business with:  Gryphin Advantage

If you purchase a Life Insurance policy or investment product from SG WP, we place this business through a Managing General Agency (MGA).  MGA’s contract with insurance companies and brokers to assist with administrative and compliance matters and are paid a fee to do so.  MGA’s do not provide financial advice or product recommendations to consumers.  This is the role of a broker.

Sentry Group Capital Advisory is our oversight committee for relationships with exempt market products dealers licensed by the Ontario Securities Commission. From time to time SG MS engages with an exempt market products dealer. In addition, SG MS will connect peer to peer private capital investment opportunities for qualified individuals.

Sentry Group Business Services provides bookkeeping and payroll services for small to medium businesses on a fee for service basis. This includes preparation of remittances (HST, payroll, WSIB).  Our Business Services agents maintain our high standards of education and ongoing professional learning.

Sentry Group Tax & Accounting provides tax preparation services for our clients on a fee for services basis. This includes preparation and filing of returns, and analysis of your return to find ways to save money and reduce tax bills.  Our experienced Tax & Accounting agents, J. Tax Services and Wickens Professional Corporation are also bound to our high standards to maintain up to date knowledge of changes in tax laws and how they may affect your current and future returns.

Sentry Group Mortgage Capital is our independent full-service mortgage brokerage and is authorized to deal and arrange with Mortgage Products with over 40 companies including banks, trust companies and registered lenders. If you arrange a mortgage through SG MC a separate disclosure of lenders will be made available to you.

How we are paid

Independent financial services brokers are commonly compensated by commissions, bonuses, and sometimes other incentives, from the companies we do business with.  Please be assured that any product(s) recommended will be the one(s) best suited to meet your needs, without regard to the compensation practices of any one company.  If you decide to purchase a product(s), the broker will receive compensation at the time of the initial sale from the supplier.

As your financial services broker, our role is to work on your behalf to resolve any questions you may have and advocate on your behalf with all suppliers, to ensure your ongoing satisfaction.  In recognition of this, companies sometimes pay a renewal, or retention, fee to brokers periodically while you hold that product. For example: if you purchase an investment product, like a segregated fund, your broker will be paid a commission and an ongoing fee (“trailer fee”) for as long as you hold the fund.

From time to time, some companies may offer other types of compensation, such as travel incentives or educational opportunities, for certain agents/brokers in recognition of the sales they have made over a specified period.

Referral Arrangements

From time to time, you may need to be referred to another professional to obtain the services you require.

Sentry Group | Motivating Success will not do so without your prior permission.  If you choose to follow up on that referral, we may receive a fee or compensation, from the other party involved.

Additional Business

When you do business with any of the Sentry Group divisions, you are under no obligation to purchase additional products or services from the other divisions as a condition of that transaction.  Other than outlined above, your personal information will not be shared with individuals or other organizations.
